A Wider Security Route Than Security Guarding Alone
The Door Supervisor qualification is designed for people who want to work in front-line private security, particularly where licensed premises, public interaction, entry control, queues, conflict or physical intervention may be involved.
A Door Supervisor licence also permits the licensable activity of a Security Guard, which can provide greater flexibility when applying for suitable security work. The licence does not replace specialist licences such as public space surveillance CCTV or close protection.

From Training to Your SIA Licence Application
BrotherzGroup provides the training and assessment route. The Security Industry Authority makes the final licensing decision.
Hold the required valid first aid qualification before starting.
Complete the required training hours and all four units.

Your awarding organisation confirms the successful qualification result.

The SIA checks identity, criminal-record information and licensing criteria.
The licence application fee is paid to the SIA and is separate from the course fee unless your written booking terms explicitly state otherwise. A standard SIA licence lasts three years.

Yes. The qualification is an entry-level licence-linked route. You do not need previous security employment, but you must meet the age, English, first aid, identity and participation requirements.
Is first aid included in the Door Supervisor course?
You must hold valid Emergency First Aid at Work, or an accepted equivalent, before the licence-linked training starts. Ask BrotherzGroup whether your chosen booking includes a separate first aid day or whether you need to book it before the course.
Can I work as a Security Guard with a Door Supervisor licence?
Yes. Current SIA guidance states that a Door Supervisor licence also allows you to perform the licensable activity of a Security Guard. It does not automatically cover specialist CCTV or close-protection activity.
What is the difference between Door Supervisor and Security Guard training?
Door Supervisor training includes specialist content for licensed premises and physical intervention. A Security Guard licence does not permit door-supervision activity at licensed premises. Your day-to-day duties and career plans should guide the route you choose.
How long is the training?
BrotherzGroup currently advertises a six-day course format. The SIA training requirement for the four Door Supervisor units is 45 hours. Confirm the daily start and finish times in your joining instructions.
What happens if my English is not strong enough?
The course includes written knowledge tests, tutor explanations, practical instructions and spoken assessment activity. BrotherzGroup may complete a basic English screening before allowing a learner to continue. Ask for advice before paying if you are unsure.
Does passing the course guarantee an SIA licence?
No. Passing provides the licence-linked qualification needed for the application. The SIA separately checks identity, criminal-record information, right to work where applicable and other licensing criteria before deciding whether to issue a licence.
How much does the SIA licence application cost?
The current application fee is £204 for one licence. The fee is paid to the SIA and is normally separate from the training fee. The SIA licence normally lasts three years.
Will I need refresher training when the licence expires?
Yes. Current SIA rules require Door Supervisor licence holders to hold the recognised Door Supervisor Refresher qualification when renewing, together with the required valid first aid qualification.
